The Nevada Wing of the Commemorative Air Force (CAF) welcomes you to our site. The Nevada Wing is based at North Las Vegas Air Terminal with an airport history dating back to December 7, 1941. The once open space around this airport has developed and grown through the years. The attractions and ever changing skyline of Las Vegas at our doorstep. The Nevada Wing has a history of some fifteen years service, and dedicated to the goals and objectives of the Commemorative Air Force (CAF). The Commemorative Air Force is a dynamic organization made of volunteers from every walk of life. The membership is made of people like yourself who have made a commitment of helping to preserve our nation’s proud and innovative military aviation history. Interested in the great round, and inline engine powered aircraft of World War II, the jets of Korea, the Vietnam era, plus the proud birds of Desert Storm? If your answer was positive, then here is your chance to get your hands on history. The sights, smells and sounds of these proud historical birds must be preserved for future generations. IF you have aviation experience as a pilot (military or civilian) , a licensed mechanic , worked as part of the aircraft assembly and testing process, or just love the lure of flight, now is the time to come and check out what the CAF and Nevada Wing have to offer.
The CAF and Nevada Wing are guided by the following Objectives:
To acquire, restore and preserve in flying condition a complete collection of combat aircraft which were flown by all military services of the United States and selected aircraft of other nations for the education and enjoyment of present and future generations of Americans.
To provide museum buildings for the permanent protection and display of these aircraft as a tribute to the thousands of men and women who built, serviced and flew them.
To perpetuate in the memory and in the hearts of all Americans the spirit in which these great planes were flown in the defense of our nation.
To establish and organization having the dedication, enthusiasm and esprit de corps necessary to operate, maintain and preserve these aircraft as symbols of our American military aviation heritage.
Started some 50 plus years ago in the Rio Grande Valley of Texas, by a dedicated group of former military pilots, the Commemorative Air Force today is the world’s largest flying museum of World War II Aircraft.
The CAF is a patriotic organization dedicated to the preservation of our nation’s greatest combat aircraft. You are invited to get your hands on a piece of history and join the air force you may not have heard of. The CAF lives in the present, we remember and educate our nation’s young people about the past, respect and honor all those brave men and women who have served and gave themselves for our great nation in defense of liberty.
